Job summary

Ifor Williams Trailers Ltd is recruiting a Design Office Manager to lead our Design Team and oversee the Design Office’s day-to-day operations. You will drive robust engineering designs that meet customer requirements, adhere to standards and deliver projects on time.

The role involves coordinating across design, tooling, jigs and fixtures, and partnering with Manufacturing and Quality to enhance productivity and product performance. 33 days holiday and site-based work are included.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience leading a design team and delivering concepts through to production.
• Strong knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes and design validation.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling, preferably SolidWorks.
• Demonstrated project and resource management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Design Team (Graduate Designers, Designers, Senior Designers) to deliver high-quality engineering designs.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the Design Office, ensuring robust processes and timely project delivery.
• Provide technical leadership and drive design reviews and risk management.
• Drive continuous improvement across design activities and cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality and Operations.
