Job summary

Hill & Hill Recruitment Ltd is partnering with an established multinational subcontractor specialising in interior fit-out to recruit a Technical Design Manager in the South West London area.

You'll not produce drawings day-to-day but will lead a talented team of CAD and Revit technicians, oversee the design process from manufacture through to construction, and coordinate with Tier One contractors to ensure robust, buildable solutions for high-profile commercial fit-out projects.

Qualifications

• Strong background in technical detailing and construction drawings for commercial fit-out projects.
• Experience reviewing and challenging work produced by CAD/Revit teams.
• Ability to present technical solutions and lead client/design meetings.

We are working with an established multinational subcontractor specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of interior fit-out systems for the commercial fit out.

The business delivers specialist interior solutions including bespoke metal ceilings, chilled beam ceiling systems, glazed internal screens, balustrading, flooring, and architectural metalwork.

They are now looking to strengthen their Design team with a Technical Design Manager who understands how fit-out systems are designed, detailed and built.

This is not a role where you will spend your time producing drawings, but you will need a strong background in technical detailing. Your technical knowledge will underpin the design process, while your focus moves towards managing people, clients and project delivery.

You will manage a team of CAD and Revit technicians, oversee the design process from manufacture through to construction, and work closely with Tier One contractors to ensure designs are technically robust, coordinated and buildable.

You will lead design meetings, make technical decisions and maintain a consistent dialogue with the team. You will also present design solutions, using your technical understanding and communication skills to build confidence with clients and project teams.

To be considered, you will have a stable employment history and a proven background in technical design and detailed construction drawings for commercial fit-out projects.

You will understand how interior fit-out systems are built, with experience across areas such as specialist ceilings, glass partitions, interiors or associated fit-out systems. You will be a competent user of AutoCAD and Revit, with the technical knowledge to review and challenge the work produced by your team.

You will also be confident managing people and clients, leading meetings, presenting technical solutions and making decisions when required.
