Job summary

Rubicon Consulting is recruiting for a Design Manager on a 6-Month Rolling Contract based in Norfolk. The successful candidate will manage design projects end-to-end, working within recognised project management frameworks, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires leadership in design coordination, policy development, and client engagement across EPC and design-only projects, with a strong emphasis on safety culture and regulatory

Responsibilities

• Provide overall project management of design projects from concept to completion per best practices (APM/PMP/PRINCE2) including FEED, planning and closeout.
• Support the Project Manager role on design-only projects or act as Design Manager on EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) projects.
• Responsible for safety, health, environmental management, sustainability and quality on assigned projects.
• Ensure adequate and appropriate resourcing for projects.
• Plan and complete projects within specified dates and maintain client, subcontractor and regulatory stakeholder relationships.
• Fulfil all statutory and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate with engineering heads to resource competent staff and ensure effective cross-discipline design coordination.
• Develop and implement project policies, controls and the project execution plan.
• Report on progress, cost, schedule, procurement, safety and design issues.
• Plan and lead project and client meetings; support proposals, presentations and negotiations with senior management support.
• Drive a Safety by Design approach on all projects.
• Foster a safety and technical excellence culture and staff development.
• Align with wider industry best practices and client standards for construction, operations & maintenance and decommissioning; support lifecycle safety and operability.
• Maintain compliance with client design management processes and the UK Integrated Management System.
• Support business development through client relationship building and pursuit of new opportunities.
• Identify required skills and recruit/talent development as needed.
• Interpret policy and strategic goals; assist in setting departmental objectives and UK business planning.
• Demonstrate creativity and problem-solving to anticipate and resolve issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with policies.
