Job summary

JHR Recruitment is seeking a Design Manager/Coordinator for the Plymouth office. You will support design management across a varied portfolio, reporting into a Senior Design Manager, with projects from £500k to £15m.

This permanent, office-based role offers a salary of £45,000-£55,000 per year plus a car allowance and attractive benefits. Ideal candidates have a background in site/project management, engineering, or architecture and hold a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Background in site/project management, engineering, or architecture.
• Experience with main contractors on build/refurbishment projects.
• Strong understanding of the design process and construction detailing.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills.
• Able to work across a varied portfolio of project types and sizes.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Design Manager across a portfolio of projects from £500k to £15m.
• Coordinate design information between architects, consultants, subcontractors, and site teams.
• Manage design programmes and track information release against construction requirements.
• Review drawings and technical information for buildability, coordination, and compliance.
• Attend design team meetings and ensure actions are tracked and closed out.
• Support the resolution of design queries and technical issues arising on site.
• Assist with design risk management and value engineering where required.
