Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our Derby team on a major expansion project with Rolls-Royce. You will coordinate design activities across disciplines to deliver high-quality, safe, compliant solutions and ensure design information is aligned with project requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Design Manager or in design leadership on construction projects.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and complex packages.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, technical compliance, risk management and buildability.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and design documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management at all levels.
• Strong planning and proactive risk/resolution skills.
• Commitment to health, safety, quality and delivering high standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design activities across disciplines and ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with client, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams to resolve design challenges.
• Review design information for compliance with specs and standards.
• Monitor design programmes and mitigate risks to avoid delays.
• Manage design reviews, submissions and design queries.
• Ensure effective communication between design and site teams for smooth handover.
