Job summary

Walker & Sloan is recruiting a Design Manager to join an established regional main contractor in Bristol. You’ll manage the design process across building projects, coordinating consultants, specialist subcontractors and delivery teams to develop practical design solutions.

You’ll oversee design development through pre-construction and delivery, ensuring information is coordinated and issued in line with the programme, with a focus on buildability and alignment with client requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in design management or coordination within a main contracting environment.
• Experience on varied building projects, including new build or refurbishment.
• Ability to challenge proposals constructively and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design development through pre-construction and delivery, coordinating information to programme.
• Lead design meetings and monitor consultant progress to close actions.
• Review proposals for buildability and cost/programme implications with commercial teams.
• Coordinate subcontractor design submissions and support site teams with technical queries.
• Ensure design information is available for handover at project completion.
