Job summary

Mitchell Maguire is seeking a Design Manager – Sheet Metal to lead a design team and drive the development of architectural aluminium systems for demanding residential and commercial projects. The role involves managing a small internal team, promoting a range of aluminium systems, and visiting sites as needed.

You will design using AutoCAD, coordinate with clients, architects and project managers, and provide technical support.

Qualifications

• Experience in sheet metal or architectural aluminium design.
• People management experience preferred.
• Strong communication and building regulations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design management for architectural aluminium systems for residential and commercial projects.
• Lead and grow an internal team of designers.
• Visit projects as needed, primarily in London, with national travel possibility.
• Develop detailed design specifications using AutoCAD for products and projects.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, project managers and internal teams.
• Provide first-line technical support by telephone or email and occasional site visits.
• Support new product launches and exhibitions as required.
• Review and analyse project and product designs.
• Manage projects valued up to £1m+.

• Design management position promoting a range of architectural aluminium systems for residential and commercial projects
• Manage, grow and build an internal team of 3 designers
• May be a requirement to visit projects, which are typically within London although can be national
• Use AutoCAD to develop detailed design specifications for products and projects
• Work closely with clients, architects, project managers and internal teams
• Offer 1st line technical support by telephone, email and occasional site visits
• Support new product launches and exhibitions as and when required
• Review, create and analyse project / product designs
• Manage projects ranging in value up-to £1m+

The ideal applicant will be a Designer – Sheet Metal with:

• Must have Design experience within sheet metal or have experience with architectural aluminium
• Highly advantageous to have existing people management experience although open to a Designer looking to take a step-up
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Understanding of current building regulations
• Strong character that’s not afraid to help the team when necessary
• Confident and articulate
