Job summary

Knightwood Associates is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design process across major schemes, delivering projects from pre-construction through to completion.

You will own the design management on a major Dorset project, coordinating consultants, subcontractors and internal teams, chairing design meetings, and driving programme delivery while maintaining high technical standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager with main contractor or developer background.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, technical design, building regulations and project delivery.
• Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple design packages and drive programmes.

Design Manager - Berkshire (Hybrid)

We’re working with a well-established national contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering a variety of high-quality projects. They are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate the design process across major schemes, playing a key role in delivering successful projects from pre-construction through to completion.

You’ll work on a major project in Dorset, taking ownership of the design management process while collaborating closely with project teams, consultants and subcontractors. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, offering long-term career prospects within a supportive and forward-thinking business.

Key responsibilities:

• Managing design information throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinating consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.
• Chairing design meetings and proactively resolving technical and design-related issues.
• Managing design programmes to ensure information is delivered in line with project requirements.
• Overseeing design trackers, approvals and project documentation.

We’re looking for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to lead the design process on complex construction projects.

You’ll ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Design Manager working for a main contractor, candidates from developers are welcome too.
• A strong understanding of construction processes, technical design, building regulations and project delivery.
• Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage multiple design packages while driving programmes and resolving technical challenges.
