- Chartered member of the ICE National Water Hygiene EUSR Registration
- Construction Experience – 5 years (degree), 10 years (HND/HNC)
- At least 5 years in design coordination role
- Experience in ground engineering, tunnels and shaft construction, and/or water industry
- Management skills; confident in dealing with staff, clients, figures, design issues, and programmes
- Scripting and automation experience; experience with Power BI
- Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Microsoft Project

- Manage a design team to promote a streamlined, efficient design process delivering safe, practical, and economic designs to high standards, compliant with regulations and procedures
- Develop and implement overall design processes related to delivery, review, assurance, progress measurement, and document control
- Oversee development of design proposals ensuring alignment with project requirements, budget, and timeline
- Manage changes to design scope; assess impact on cost and programme
- Create and maintain a register of design deliverables
- Report on design progress; prepare narratives and reports for cost control
- Manage interface with external and internal design teams
- Represent the design department at internal and external meetings
- Liaise with construction teams to determine constructability constraints and ensure design suitability
- Coordinate with Environmental, Consents, Planning, and Quality departments to ensure design completeness
- Ensure consistent approach within the design team
- Provide training and support for the design team on processes
- Identify opportunities for process efficiency and continuous improvement
- Implement innovative tools and techniques to streamline design processes
- Ensure feedback on design work is collected, stored, reviewed, and acted upon per procedures
- Maintain storage, filing, and archiving of design documents
- Ensure departmental work complies with company procedures and maintains professionalism
- Ensure designs meet building codes, safety standards, and regulations
- Prepare conceptual designs focusing on safety, practicality, and economy
- Manage design interfaces with authorities and regulatory bodies
- Obtain design approvals from clients and authorities at project milestones
- Organize collaborative design reviews and involve key personnel
- Promote health and safety through design
- Apply risk management processes in accordance with CCDM regs (CDM2015)
- Lead risk reviews such as HAZOPs, HAZCONs, and HAZCOMMs
- Manage design integration across disciplines and between temporary and permanent works
- Ensure effective communication within the design team and foster cooperation
- Encourage Value Engineering opportunities
- Identify documentation needed for the health and safety file
- Prepare work forecasts
- Demonstrate leadership and foster collaboration, resolving conflicts promptly
