Job summary

Apple Technical Recruitment (Uk) is seeking a Design Manager for a permanent role in Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will lead design delivery on a c.£20m education sector project, from early feasibility through coordination and on-site delivery, working with a main contractor and external consultants.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in design management, with sector experience in education, leisure, commercial, healthcare or life science. Salary c£60k–£75k DOE with strong package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a design management role for a Main Contractor.
• Experience across Education, Leisure, Commercial, Healthcare or Life Science sectors.
• Qualified in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.

A market-leading, privately owned, Main Contractor with a secure, long-term pipeline of work across Hertfordshire is seeking a talented Design Manager.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and support design delivery across an exciting long term education sector portfolio spanning Higher Education, High Schools, Academies and Primary Schools.

The Design Manager will be responsible for managing the design process from early feasibility and planning stages through to on-site coordination and delivery, taking responsibility for a new build project c£20m in value.

Duties & Responsibilities:

While focusing primarily on early feasibility and procurement stages, the Design Manager will oversee technical compliance and design management, monitoring on-site design coordination and managing the performance of external consultants.

• Acting as a liaison between the design team, client, and on-site delivery team.
• Ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
• Driving efficient design process aligned with project timelines and commercial targets

Desirable Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a design management role for a Main Contractor.
• Sector experience to include one of the following:
  • Education, Leisure, Commercial, Healthcare, Life Science
• Previous Roles May Include: Technical Manager | Assistant Design Manager | Design Manager | Design Coordinator | Design & Build Manager

Qualifications & Skills: HNC or Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, Architectural Technology OR comparable qualification.
