Job summary

A major contractor in Bedfordshire is seeking a Senior Design Manager to lead the design management on a c£400m+ mixed-use development with a four-year programme. The role covers early feasibility through to on-site coordination and delivery.

The successful candidate will oversee design processes, manage consultants, and ensure compliance with all relevant standards. There is travel between London offices and site-based work.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years' experience in a design management role for a Main Contractor.
• HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical compliance and design management, focusing on feasibility and procurement stages, and monitor on-site design coordination.
• Liaise between design team, client and on-site delivery team.
• Ensure technical accuracy and regulatory compliance and drive the design process to match timelines and commercial targets.

Company & Project: An award-winning Main Contractor with a busy pipeline of work across the region are looking for a Senior Design manager to join the business working in a major project team for a c£400m+ mixed-use development project. The project will be based in Bedfordshire with the programme of work spanning c4years in duration.

The project has a c12-month pre-construction phase which will involve regular London office travel before moving to site.

The successful candidate will be involved working within team to managing the design process from early feasibility and planning stages through to on-site coordination and delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities: The Design Manager will oversee technical compliance and design management, focusing primarily on early feasibility and procurement stages, while also monitoring on-site design coordination and managing the performance of external consultants.

Key responsibilities include:

• Acting as a liaison between the design team, client, and on-site delivery team.
• Ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
• Driving efficient design process aligned with project timelines and commercial targets

Desirable Experience:

• A minimum of 10 years' experience in a design management role for a Main Contractor.
