Design Manager - Guildford

An opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join Galliford Try. Ideally, you will be based in or around Guildford and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the region.

What you will be doing:
  • Managing relationships with clients, subcontractors, project and design teams for efficient development and delivery of designs.
  • Leading the design process in accordance with Galliford Try Building Management System.
  • Applying and monitoring compliance with CDM 2015, ensuring safety in design.
  • Identifying and mitigating design risks and exploring opportunities throughout project stages.
  • Assisting in the selection of designers and ensuring competency checks.
  • Developing and agreeing on scope and responsibilities for consultants, managing project fee schedules.
  • Developing the design programme with the Planner, managing Information Release Schedules, and monitoring progress and quality.
  • Managing statutory and third-party processes like Planning, Building Control, BREEAM.
  • Undertaking site inspections to ensure the as-built product meets design criteria.
About You:
  • Experience and knowledge of CDM 2015.
  • Awareness of H&S responsibilities and adherence to company policies.
  • Ability to read and interpret design and construction programmes.
  • Understanding of buildability and ability to challenge designs not meeting sequencing or methodology.
  • Analytical with advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and present ideas concisely.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with senior stakeholders.
  • Commercial acumen and experience managing the design change process.
