Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the coordination, development and delivery of design solutions across retail fuel, forecourt and EV infrastructure projects across the UK. You will act as the main design interface between clients, consultants, engineers and suppliers, ensuring designs meet technical, commercial, regulatory and operational requirements.

Qualifications

Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.
Strong knowledge of UK planning, design and construction processes.
Experience coordinating external consultants and specialist subcontractors.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery principles.
Knowledge of retail fuel station design and operational requirements.
Experience with forecourt layouts and customer circulation planning.
Experience with EV charging infrastructure design and deployment.
Knowledge of utility and power connection processes.
Experience with design risk management and technical governance.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the UK.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the design process across retail fuel, forecourt, convenience retail and EV charging projects.
Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including architects, engineers and specialists.
Manage design programmes, deliverables, reviews, approvals, milestones.
Ensure designs meet client requirements, regulatory obligations and budget constraints.
Facilitate design review meetings and respond to technical queries.
Identify design risks and opportunities throughout project development.
Be the principal point of contact for clients and stakeholders during delivery.
Present feasibility studies, concept designs and options.
Provide technical guidance to support client decision-making.
Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and authorities.
