Job summary

BDUK Design Lead at Boeing Defence United Kingdom Limited seeks a capable leader to steer the design and support engineering team across the product lifecycle. You will coordinate across engineering, maintenance, supply chain, quality and operations to deliver robust design solutions.

You will own design decisions, develop standards, manage supplier relationships, and support bids and governance. Strong leadership, communication and technical excellence are essential.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for UK SC Security Clearance: Applicants must be able to obtain the necessary clearance.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Materials).
• Experience in tooling design and manufacturing; knowledge of materials and processes.
• Supplier management experience including SOW/BOE preparation and oversight.
• Demonstrated leadership: leading engineering teams and managing stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi‑discipline Design team: set objectives, mentor engineers, allocate work.
• Own design decisions and trade‑offs; document rationale and accept responsibility.
• Drive engineering excellence: establish design standards and verification/validation strategies.
• Manage supplier development and delivery: lead supplier selection, design optimisation, test planning.
• Represent Design in governance: present status, risk, decisions to leadership and customers.
