Job summary

Premier Group Recruitment in Reading is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join a specialist metalwork supplier on a permanent basis. The candidate should have at least 2 years’ experience in mechanical or hands-on design, with knowledge of sheet metal, welding, fabrication and castings, plus basic proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software (Revit, AutoCAD).

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience in mechanical or hands‑on design engineering.
• Knowledge of sheet metal, welding, fabrication, castings etc.
• Basic proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software – Revit, AutoCAD
• Knowledge of R&D - testing, prototyping, development etc.
• Proficient using MS Office

Responsibilities

• Designing and manufacturing prototypes and test equipment
• Testing, performing experiments, prototyping, verifying designs
• Using Revit & AutoCAD to provide detailed drawings
• Working alongside Structural and Architectural Engineers
• Being involved in final assembly of products
• Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
• Monitoring requirements and timescales
• Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
