Job summary

PE Global is currently recruiting for a Design Engineer (air and fuel system components) for a leading manufacturer based in Peterborough. The role is a 12-month contract, on-site five days a week, with PAYE and Umbrella pay options depending on experience.

You will design, plan and deliver air and fuel system components, collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams, and support product management. Experience with Creo and PLM (Teamcenter) is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
• 6-8 years of engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience using Creo to design powertrain components.
• CREO experience is essential.
• Experience using PLM systems (Teamcenter).
• Experience designing powertrain/engine components.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and deliver air/fuel system/component development projects to time, cost and quality goals.
• Communicate design and project status to peers, stakeholders and management.
• Lead design reviews to gain cross-functional support for new designs.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions.
• Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
• Investigate and resolve technical issues using 8D methodology.
• Collaborate with Product Management to understand customer needs and design requirements.
• Write and review technical information and reports to support production design release.
• Collaborate with global teams to implement engineering solutions at worldwide facilities.
• Reflect on lessons learned and identify improvement opportunities using Lean methodology.

PE Global is currently recruiting for Design Engineer (air and fuel system components) for a leading manufacturer of construction, mining equipment, engines, turbines, locomotives based in Peterborough.

Role is 12 months contract, 5 days on site, paying from £30.63ph PAYE or £41.57ph Umbrella up to £35.38ph PAYE or £48.02ph Umbrella depending on experience.

Duties of the role/Responsibilities

• Design, Plan and deliver air/fuel system/component development projects to time, cost and quality goals.
• Communicate design and project status and key issues to peers, stakeholders and management.
• Lead design reviews to gain cross-functional business support for new designs, supplier nomination and capital investment.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions through APQP.
• Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
• Investigate and resolve technical issues using 8D methodology.
• Collaborate with Product Management to understand customer needs and design requirements.
• Write and review technical information and technical reports to support production design release.
• Collaborate with global teams to implement engineering solutions at worldwide facilities.
• Reflect on lessons learnt, using Lean methodology to identify improvement opportunities.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent knowledge/experience).
• 6-8 years of engineering or relevant experience.
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engine components and/or systems and component development.
• Highly level of expertise working in CAD and PLM systems :
• Experience of using CAD (Creo) to design powertrain components
• CREO experience is a must.
• Experience of using PLM systems (Teamcenter)
• Experience designing powertrain and/or engine components.
• Regularly supporting peer reviews working with others to share learning and develop

robust solutions.

• Use of research techniques to identify solutions to problems autonomously.
• Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.
