We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our team in Skelmersdale on a full-time and permanent basis.
Responsibilities
- The successful and timely delivery of all design engineering work allocated to you.
- Maintaining high-quality engineering output.
- Working according to defined company processes and standards.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction through quality work delivery.
- Supporting the Business Group in winning new work.
- Improving product design methods and procedures.
Main Duties
- Supporting the Engineering Team Manager to provide design engineering coverage across the Business Group and CRP when necessary.
- Performing design engineering activities daily within Design Engineering.
- Designing products in accordance with customer requirements, company practices, and recognized standards.
- Generating technical presentations for internal or external purposes.
- Ensuring accuracy and completeness of drawings and documentation.
- Providing technical support for products and related activities.
- Supporting production plant and equipment as needed.
- Communicating technical data effectively to customers and sub-contractors.
- Collaborating with Supply Chain and Operations.
- Participating in company-wide improvement initiatives.
- Performing other activities as directed by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Logical and analytical thinking; championing procurement processes.
- Managing multiple projects efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Setting realistic timescales in collaboration with sales and project teams.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Building strong working relationships within multidisciplinary teams.
- Providing support and training to less experienced engineers.
- Understanding and applying relevant technical and HSE standards.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline (BEng (Hons), MEng (Hons), or equivalent).
Experience
- Working across cultural boundaries.
- Effective communication internally and externally.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Handling multiple projects efficiently.
- Conducting analytical calculations.
