Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Oxfordshire to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. You will produce detailed 3D models and engineering drawings in SolidWorks to BS8888 standards, and develop concept designs through to production.

You will also create 2D drawings in DraftSight, manage Bills of Materials and revision control using SAP/PDM, support prototype builds and testing, and collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Mechanical Design Engineer in engineering/manufacturing.
• Strong SolidWorks skills with 3D modelling focus.
• Experience producing detailed drawings to BS8888 standards.
• Proficient with 2D CAD, preferably DraftSight.
• Experience creating BOMs and using SAP/PDM for revision control.
• Hands-on CAD-CAM engineering experience.
• Experience supporting prototype and production builds and testing.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Job Description

• Produce detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks, working to BS8888 standards
• Create 2D CAD drawings using DraftSight and produce schematic drawings where required
• Develop concept designs and support new product development from initial ideas through to production
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), documentation, and revision control using SAP/PDM systems
• Carry out document checking and approve/sign off engineering drawings
• Support the build and testing of prototype and production parts and assemblies
• Provide hands‑on CAD‑CAM engineering support to manufacturing and production teams
• Assist with fault finding, diagnosis, and design improvements during build and testing
• Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, accurate, and suitable for production

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Strong SolidWorks experience with excellent 3D modelling capabilities
• Experience producing detailed engineering drawings to BS8888 standards
• Good 2D CAD experience, ideally with DraftSight
• Experience creating BOMs, managing engineering documentation, and revision control using SAP/PDM or similar systems
• Hands‑on CAD‑CAM engineering experience
• Experience supporting prototype and production builds, testing, and assembly
