Job description

Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Predominantly onsite, 5 days per week with some flexibility

We’re looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation working on the development of advanced engine and aftertreatment systems for off-highway applications.

This is a hands‑on engineering role where you’ll work on both new product introduction (NPI) and updates to existing engine platforms, taking ownership of technically challenging design and development activities and collaborating with manufacturing teams, suppliers and engineering stakeholders globally.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Designing and developing IC engine components, exhaust and emissions/aftertreatment systems
  • Developing aftertreatment modules, mounting systems and DEF mixing solutions
  • Creating and reviewing 3D models, engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Leading and contributing to DFMEA/FMEA activities
  • Developing validation plans and DVP&R
  • Supporting component and system verification and validation
  • Investigating production and field issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Working closely with suppliers using APQP tools
  • Supporting design solutions involving metal fabrication, moulded components and GD&T
  • Producing technical reports and functional requirement documentation.
What We’re Looking For
  • Mechanical, Automotive Engineering or similar technical background, with an HNC/technical degree preferred, although relevant industry experience will also be considered
  • Strong mechanical design experience, ideally involving IC engines
  • Knowledge or experience of aftertreatment systems / emissions modules
  • Experience with 3D CAD, ideally Creo
  • Experience with Teamcenter or similar engineering data management tools
  • Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Experience creating or contributing to DFMEA
  • Component/system validation and verification experience
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability
  • Experience working with external suppliers
  • Off-highway diesel engine development and validation experience would be highly desirable.

If you’re an experienced Design Engineer with a background in engine systems, aftertreatment, emissions or complex mechanical components, this is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging engineering projects within a highly established environment.
