Job summary

A leading machinery manufacturing firm in Northamptonshire is seeking an experienced Design Engineer. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SolidWorks, capable of producing high-quality technical and manufacturing drawings for large machinery. This position requires strong skills in 2D & 3D draughting and considerable knowledge of fabrication and sheet metal work. The role supports the design of high capital machinery solutions within recycling systems and MHE conveyor systems. Immediate interviews available; potential start in December or January.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Design Engineer, SolidWorks Draughtsman, or similar role.
• Proficient in producing technical and assembly drawings.
• Experience in high capital machinery design.

GBR Recruitment Ltd are proud to be working in partnership with a leading Recycling / Material Handling machinery manufacturing business based in Northamptonshire, recruiting for an experienced Design Engineer who is highly proficient in using SolidWorks design software. As the Design Engineer you will be strong in designing sheet metal fabricated parts & large structural components for large scale machinery (cutting, bending, moulding, forming & assembling processes), plus with strong knowledge of weldments & designing high capital machinery solutions within automated MHE conveyor systems / recycling systems (compactors, balers, tippers, feeders etc.). If you are keen to support the design of high capital machinery & if you possess strong detailing of fabricated products experience, along with 2D & 3D draughting using SolidWorks 3D design software. then this could be the ideal design role for you.

Designer Duties

• Producing technical drawings of high quality & continuity.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings of machinery, structures, components & layouts from 3D models (on SolidWorks).
• Produce accurate fabrication drawings (Steel Fabrications).
• Produce accurate assembly drawings.
• Produce BOM's (Bill of Materials).
• Ensuring the drawings & parts database is up to date.
• Work closely with manufacturing, engineering & sales teams.

Attributes

• A time-served experienced Design Engineer, SolidWorks Draughtsman, SolidWorks Draughtsperson, CAD Designer, AutoCAD Designer, Product Engineer, Development Engineer or similar roles with comparable duties.
• HNC, HND or Degree qualified (all considered).
• Strong in using SolidWorks (essential).
• Experience also in using AutoCAD (beneficial).
• Strong in 2D & 3D draughting.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication & sheet metal work.
• High capital machinery design support experience.
• Recycling machinery experience
• MHE conveyor systems experience (belts, rollers, overheads, automotive, vertical, incline, gravity or similar) is useful.

This role could suit someone working as a SolidWorks Designer, Design Engineer, Draughtsman, Draughtsperson, Mechanical Design Engineer, CAD Design Engineer, SolidWorks Draughtsman, Product Design Engineer, Design for Manufacture (DfM) Engineer, 3D Modelling & Simulation Designer or similar.

The position is commutable from Northampton, Kettering, Corby, Burton Latimer, Rushden, Thrapston, Wellingborough, Raunds, Rushton, Rothwell, Desborough, Uppingham, Market Harborough, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Stamford, Oakham, those looking to relocate to these areas would also be considered.
