Job summary

MTrec Technical are recruiting a Design Engineer to join a leading precision engineering and manufacturing organisation in Northumberland. You will act as the primary technical liaison with customer engineers, delivering CAD-based solutions and guiding projects from concept through prototype to manufacture in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a mechanical engineering degree and 3–4 years of design and manufacturing experience, with CAD and Ansys experience highly regarded.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is essential.
• 3–4 years engineering experience in design, development and manufacturing environment.
• Familiar with CAD to generate 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Experience with Ansys or similar software is advantageous.
• Highly numerate and computer literate.
• Excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
• Knowledge of 3D CAD design in machined components or assemblies.
• Thermodynamics and CFD knowledge useful.
• Basic knowledge of electrical aspects of engineering.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer engineers throughout their journey with the business.
• Generate engineering solutions to customer requirements using CAD to create 3D models and 2D drawings, potentially with CFD analysis.
• Manage allocated projects, raise purchase orders for materials and oversee prototype builds and testing.
• Collaborate with Production and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure smooth transition into manufacture meeting customer requirements.
• Support Sales by providing technical expertise as needed.
• Maintain and archive all customer information per procedures.
• Work in compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
• Ensure 5S housekeeping standards are maintained in areas under control.

About you:
