Job summary

Aspired Talent Ltd is recruiting a Design Engineer to join our client's engineering team in Blackburn, Lancashire, developing practical design solutions for refrigerated commercial vehicle conversions.

This permanent role requires at least two years of engineering design experience, a engineering qualification, and proficiency in 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor) and 2D CNC routing to create production drawings and BOMs. Salary £36,000-£38,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications

• At least two years' relevant engineering design experience.
• HND or degree in an engineering subject.
• Proficient in 3D CAD, ideally Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
• Experience producing mechanical designs and manufacturing drawings.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and practical assembly requirements.
• Proficiency in 2D CNC router programming.
• Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy manufacturing environment.
• Confident communicating with colleagues across engineering and production.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop insulation kits for existing and new commercial vehicle models.
• Create accurate engineering drawings and assembly instructions for production teams.
• Design insulated panel assemblies that are practical to manufacture and fit.
• Produce CNC cutting programmes for insulation panels, maximising material use and reducing waste.
• Incorporate refrigeration equipment, controllers, batteries and other aftermarket products into vehicle conversion designs.
• Work closely with manufacturing and installation teams to resolve design and build issues.
• Create and maintain bills of materials and update information within the company's ERP system.
• Manage design changes and maintain accurate technical documentation.
• Support product development and improvements to quality, safety and manufacturing efficiency.

This role would suit someone with mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment who enjoys taking designs from concept through to production.

The role

• Design and develop insulation kits for existing and new commercial vehicle models.
• Create accurate engineering drawings and assembly instructions for production teams.
