Job summary

Bachy Soletanche Limited, a world-leading geotechnical contractor, is seeking a Design Engineer to deliver holistic foundation and piling designs for UK projects. You will work closely with operations, estimating and other engineering teams to ensure practical, buildable solutions and to drive project success.

The role requires a master's in Civil Engineering, experience with piles, micropiles, anchors, soil nailing, and knowledge of UK ground conditions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Competent in design of piles and embedded retaining walls.
• Experience with micropiles, minipiles, ground anchors, soil nailing and soil mixing; grout knowledge helpful.
• Geological knowledge of UK ground conditions.
• Understand construction processes, site practices.

Responsibilities

• Deliver holistic designs, not just pile elements.
• Ensure design efficiency and buildability, collaborating with operations.
• Provide technical and design support to all BSL departments and estimating/ops teams.

The Role

Design Engineer

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver competitive designs (wholistic rather than simply pile element).

• Ensure design efficiency and buildability. Take full accountability for creating designs that are not only efficient but also practical and buildable, with input from collaboration with the operational teams.

• Provide technical and design support to all BSL departments and be fully integrated to the estimating teams and operational teams to aid their performance.

• Analyse the project input in order to interrogate it, reach an agreement and integrated in a design solution.

• Contribute to the continued improvement of the Engineering process within the department.

What We’re Looking For

• Masters level qualification in Civil Engineering.
• Competent in the design piles and embedded retraining walls is required.
• Experienced in the design of micropiles, minipiles, ground anchors, soil nailing, soil mixing and all grouting would be advantageous.
• Geological knowledge of ground conditions throughout the UK.
• Knowledge of construction processes, methods and site practices.
• Familiarity with software packages such as WALLAP would be advantageous.
• Agility and ability to work at speed on multiple workstreams concurrently and work under pressure.
• Willingness to attend the office and work as part of fast paced teams.
• Ability to independently recognise their knowledge and skill limitations and the limitations of those they will be working with.
• Resilient, assertive, humble, optimistic and open to change.
