Bachy Soletanche Limited is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to deliver engineering and design solutions from concept through to practical completion of geotechnical projects. You will work closely with estimating and operations teams to ensure designs are efficient, practical and buildable, while managing client expectations and driving continuous improvement.

Senior Design Engineer

Provide Engineering & design solutions from work winning concept phase to practical completion of projects with the common goal to win projects and to increase site net margin.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver competitive designs (holistic rather than simply pile element).
• Ensure design efficiency and buildability. Take full accountability for creating designs that are not only efficient, but also practical and buildable, with input from collaboration with the operational teams.
• Provide technical and design support to all BSL departments and be fully integrated to the estimating teams and operational teams to aid their performance.
• Analyse the project input in order to interrogate it, reach an agreement and integrated in a design solution.
• Design on performance‑based approach, observational approach rather than compliance approach.
• Contribute to deliver technical handover to operational teams. Define pre‑agreed mitigations (anticipation vs reaction).
• Attend external meetings with Clients.
• Manage internal and external clients’ expectations.
• Embrace, promote positively and meet KPI set out by the Engineering Manager.
• Contribute to the continued improvement of the Engineering process within the department.
• Assist the new techniques PM to develop the innovations.
• Train Design and Engineering colleagues and to a certain extent broader organisation members. Share ideas.
• Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends.
• Engage and receive feedback from estimating teams and operational teams for the purpose of continuous improvement.
