Job summary

Mabey Hire is seeking a Design Engineer to join the Bilston team. You will produce temporary works designs and checks for excavation support, propping, formwork and falsework, reporting to a Design Team Leader.

The role suits an engineer with a few years post graduate experience in structures or geotechnical design, with a sound understanding of temporary works. A strong CAD capability is beneficial for this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience designing temporary works, including Cofferdams or Building Refurbishment.
• Ability to read and interpret design briefs and drawings.
• Familiarity with CDM 2019 and related safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare temporary works designs for our products.
• Check designs and drawings against relevant standards.
• Attend client meetings and conduct site visits.
• Review design briefs from sales and provide feedback as needed.
• Manage own workload and priorities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects as directed by Engineering Director.

Design Engineer

We are a leading temporary works specialist and at the forefront of our industry for over 60 years, with a reputation built on engineering and service excellence. Our customers include civil engineering and construction contractors, asset owners, and consulting engineering firms through to small builders.

Due to continued growth, we are currently looking for a design engineer to join our engineering team in Bilston. Reporting to a Design Team Leader, you will be responsible for producing temporary works designs and checks for excavation support, propping, formwork and falsework.

The role would suit an engineer with a few years post graduate experience with demonstratable technical experience in structures or geotechnical design and a sound understanding of temporary works. At Mabey Hire, the floor is yours to fulfil your potential and take us forward.

You will:

• Prepare temporary works designs for our products.
• Check designs and drawings in accordance with the appropriate standards.
• Attend client meetings and carry out site visits.
• Review design briefs provided by the sales team and provide feedback if more information is required.
• Manage your own workload.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects as agreed by the Engineering Director.

You will have:

• At least 3 years of experience designing temporary works, specifically either Cofferdams or Building Refurbishment.
• A HND or degree in civil/structural engineering.
• The ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
• Good understanding of CDM 2019.
• Experience utilising AutoCAD and/or REVIT.

We would also love it if you have:

• General temporary works design experience - in particular Cofferdams, Building Refurbishment, and/or Formwork / Falsework.
• Experience working for a temporary works supplier.
• Some experience working on site or for a contractor.
