Job summary

Mabey Hire, a leading temporary works specialist in Strood, is seeking a Design Engineer. You will produce temporary works designs for excavation support, propping, formwork and falsework, and check designs against standards.

Join a team reporting to the Design Team Leader; you will attend client meetings, visit sites, manage your workload, and contribute to continuous improvement projects with the Engineering Director.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience designing temporary works (Cofferdams or Building Refurbishment).
• HND or degree in civil/structural engineering.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Good understanding of CDM 2019.
• Experience using AutoCAD and/or REVIT.

Responsibilities

• Prepare temporary works designs for our products.
• Check designs and drawings in accordance with the appropriate standards.
• Attend client meetings and carry out site visits.
• Review design briefs provided by the sales team and provide feedback if more information is required.
• Manage your own workload.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects as agreed by the Engineering Director.

Design Engineer

We are a leading temporary works specialist and at the forefront of our industry for over 60 years, with a reputation built on engineering and service excellence. This enables us to deliver the right temporary works solution for our customers, whatever the scale or complexity of the project. Our customers include civil engineering and construction contractors, asset owners, and consulting engineering firms through to small builders.

Due to continued growth, we are currently looking for a design engineer to join our engineering team in Strood. Reporting to a Design Team Leader, you will be responsible for producing temporary works designs and checks for excavation support, propping, formwork and falsework.

The role would suit an engineer with a few years post graduate experience with demonstratable technical experience in structures or geotechnical design and a sound understanding of temporary works. At Mabey Hire, the floor is yours to fulfil your potential and take us forward.

You will:

• Prepare temporary works designs for our products.

You will have:

• At least 3 years of experience designing temporary works, specifically either Cofferdams or Building Refurbishment.
• A HND or degree in civil/structural engineering.
• The ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
• Good understanding of CDM 2019.
• Experience utilising AutoCAD and/or REVIT.

We would also love it if you have:

• General temporary works design experience - in particular Cofferdams, Building Refurbishment, and/or Formwork / Falsework.
• Experience working for a temporary works supplier.
• Some experience working on site or for a contractor.
