Job summary

AmcoGiffen is seeking an experienced Design Coordinator/Design Manager to join our rail and civil engineering teams in Glasgow. You will coordinate designers and manage design activities across multi-disciplinary projects, reporting to Engineering leadership and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.

Qualifications

• Educational background: degree in rail or civil engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status through Engineering Institution (or nearing).
• Experience as a Design Coordinator in rail contracting, civil engineering.
• Strong understanding of design delivery processes and managing consultants.
• Commercial awareness and familiarity with CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design progress against schedule and budget, with corrective actions.
• Review and approve/disapprove design changes ensuring scope alignment.
• Establish liaison and provide progress reports to cross-functional teams.
• Manage design subcontracting, invoices, and incentive/disincentive programs.
• Coordinate timely submission of design documents for owner approval.
• Identify scope changes and document change orders and instructions.
• Collaborate on constructability reviews and value engineering.
• Promote continuous improvement and best practices in design coordination.
• Support project close-out handover processes.
