Job summary

WSP is seeking a Civil & Structural Engineer in its Design Assurance team to support independent reviews of engineering deliverables on Energy Transmission projects. The role offers a path toward Design Assurance, Checker, or Independent Reviewer roles.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, applying design assurance principles, reviewing calculations, drawings and models, and ensuring compliance with UK and international standards. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with a relevant institution.
• Experience in civil/structural design within energy, power, infrastructure sectors.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes/UK standards and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with design review, verification, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Proficiency with engineering/design software and BIM/CAD platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support technical review and assurance of civil/structural designs for compliance.
• Develop understanding of design assurance principles and governance frameworks.
• Independently review calculations, drawings, specs, and 3D models.
• Assist in delivery of civil/structural design packages and assurance.
• Contribute to structured design review processes and risk workshops.
• Identify technical risks and communicate constraints clearly.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure alignment with Employer’s Requirements and project objectives.
• Support compliance with UK/international codes and CDM/ISO 19650.
• Contribute to lessons learned and standards development.
