Job summary

BakerHicks is seeking a Principal Civil or Structural Engineer to lead and develop our Derby Civil & Structural capability, delivering technically challenging projects. You will act as technical lead, guide multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to tenders and fee estimates while mentoring engineers in the Derby office.

Qualifications

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with CEng/MICE or MIStructE.
• Extensive design consultancy experience.
• Proven leadership of complex projects and technical delivery.
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural design and standards.
• Experience in multidisciplinary design teams.
• Understanding of standards, assurance, and quality processes.
• Commercial awareness in project delivery and change control.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
• SC clearance or eligibility.
• Full clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support the establishment and development of the Civil & Structural capability in Derby.
• Lead Civil & Structural design delivery across multiple projects.
• Act as a technical lead and reviewer across relevant projects and disciplines.
• Lead or contribute to multidisciplinary design teams.
• Support tenders, fee estimates and successful project delivery.
• Mentor and develop engineers across the team.
• Contribute to the wider development of BakerHicks’ Civil & Structural capability.
