Job summary

BakerHicks is seeking a Principal Civil or Structural Engineer to establish and grow the Derby Civil & Structural capability. You will lead technically challenging projects, act as a technical lead, and mentor the team while collaborating with the wider BakerHicks group across multidisciplinary projects.

The role requires Chartered status with a strong background in design consultancy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence project delivery and team development in Derby.

Qualifications

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with design consultancy background.
• Proven track record delivering complex projects.
• Strong communication, leadership and mentoring skills.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and technical reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead design delivery and technical reviews across projects.
• Mentor and develop engineers within the Derby team.
• Support tenders and fee estimates; ensure quality and compliance.
• Provide guidance to less experienced engineers and act as technical lead.
