Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Ward Manager in the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. The post involves managing the unit, assessing care needs and implementing evidence-based programmes in the absence of the Ward Manager.

The role emphasises leading a nursing team, maintaining patient safety, and contributing to ward assurance. A focus on staff development, mentorship and collaboration with the MDT is essential.

Qualifications

  • First level live NMC Registered Nurse or Registered Mental Nurse.
  • PP126/127 or AC631 or D32/33 or A1 or equivalent.
  • Mentorship Qualification or relevant equivalent qualification (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period).
  • Leadership course.
  • Management course.
  • Diploma or degree in nursing.
  • Qualification in specialty.

  • Act as a role model to your team.
  • Ensure and maintain patient, staff and visitor safety.
  • Hold the site bleep responsibility.
  • Ensure team and patient safety – including safeguarding.
  • Contribute to ward assurance and audit.
  • Work with the wider MDT to ensure high standards of effective patient care.
  • Ensure safe staffing level, contribute to off duty.

Job overview

To assume responsibility for the management of Hyper Acute Stroke Unit including the assessment of care needs, the implementation of evidence based programme of care in the absence of the Ward Manager.

Qualifications
