Job description

We are seeking a Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join the current OTC @ Home Service team. This role involves providing treatments to patients in their own homes, as well as working some shifts at the Osborne Treatment Centre (OTC) at the LRI.

The successful candidate will join an established team known for excellence and innovative practices. The department offers outpatient treatment, triage assessment, and follow-up care for patients with Haematological and Oncological conditions.

We seek an enthusiastic and motivated nurse with clinical experience in haematology/oncology nursing. The candidate should demonstrate excellent clinical skills in Haematology/Oncology care and have a passion for this specialty. Knowledge of safe SACT administration, CVAD care, and supportive treatments is essential.

The role involves working as part of a team and independently. On-call duties on a rota basis are required once competence in apheresis is achieved.

  1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients.
  2. Lead and supervise others in caring for patients.
  3. Deputise and take charge of the area in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse, who has 24-hour accountability.
  4. Contribute to maintaining high standards of nursing care.
  5. Participate in clinical leadership and management of the ward team.

Contribute to service improvement and quality of care to meet patient and family needs.

Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing, and supporting students and learners. Participate in education, development, and mentorship of staff.
