The Belvedere Academy in Liverpool is seeking a Deputy SENCO for a full-time role. Salary on the Main Teacher's Pay Scale (MPS/UPS) will depend on the successful candidate. Start date after February half term (2027) or earlier.
You will work closely with the SENCO to develop and lead SEND provision, applying a relational approach to behaviour and inclusive curriculum delivery. Teaching commitments are expected as part of the role.
NOR - 1256 girls (including 311 in Sixth Form)
We are seeking an aspiring leader with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, inclusive, and aspirational classroom practice / teaching in a secondary setting. Working closely alongside the SENCO, you will help lead, develop, and manage our SEND provision to ensure every student is supported to reach their full potential.
As a highly reflective practitioner, you will combine a sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice with practical, classroom-based strategies to support teachers’ practice. You will build and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers, with all aspects of your practice underpinned by our commitment to a relational approach to behavior.
There will be an expectation that you will teach some lessons. At Belvedere, we operate a two week, 50 hour timetable cycle. Over the course of this cycle, you will be expected to teach between 15-20 periods per cycle, depending on the need in the curriculum area in which you belong.
In 2007, Belvedere was the first independent school to become an academy and is continuing the traditions and standards of its predecessor school. We have high expectations of all our students and we support them with excellent pastoral care. Our extensive Enrichment programme allows pupils to develop into well rounded individuals. In March 2025, Ofsted judged us Outstanding in Behaviour and Attitudes and in Personal Development. We were delighted that they recognised how our "ambitious" curriculum inspired our pupils to be, "ambitious for their futures" within an "inclusive" community in which pupils "can be themselves".
Children of our staff have a higher priority in our Y7 admissions process - please see the Admissions Policy on our website or call the academy office for further details.
The GDST is committed to diversity, inclusion and real change. We want every colleague to feel valued, respected and supported, and we actively welcome applications from all backgrounds and communities.
We are equally committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants must therefore be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including online searches, checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
