Job summary

Opus People Solutions Ltd is seeking a Deputy Manager for a Children's Residential Home in Northampton. You will support the Registered Manager, lead a team, and ensure outstanding care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a Children's Residential Home setting.

• Participate in on-call rota and provide leadership in the absence of the Registered Manager.
• Support service development and preparation for Ofsted inspections.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our Children's Residential Home and play a key role in providing high-quality care and support for children and young people. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help lead the home, ensuring outstanding standards of care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance while creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive. Key Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operation and management of the home.
• Lead, supervise, and motivate staff, conducting regular supervisions and supporting professional development.
• Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding policies, and relevant legislation.
• Monitor and promote the safety, welfare, and positive outcomes of children and young people.
• Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, behavioural support plans, and placement reviews.
• Effectively manage incidents, safeguarding concerns, complaints, and disciplinary matters when required.
• Support staff recruitment, onboarding, induction, and ongoing training.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation to a high standard.
• Build positive relationships with social workers, families, schools, healthcare professionals, and other partner agencies.
• Participate in the management on-call rota and provide leadership in the absence of the Registered Manager.
• Support continuous service improvement, development plans, and preparation for Ofsted inspections.
• Promote a positive, child-centred culture that supports emotional well-being, educational achievement, life skills, and independence.

About You

• Previous experience working within a Children's Residential Home setting.
• Experience supervising and leading staff teams.
• A thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and relevant children's legislation.
• Knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
• Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals.
• Experience in care planning, risk assessment, and behaviour management.
• A commitment to achieving excellent outcomes for children and young people.

DVLA check Travel in own vehicle not required, however travel in the work vehicle to support with things such as school pick ups may be required.
