Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Deputy Access Manager to join the Ophthalmology Care Group. This permanent NHS role supports the Access Manager and clinical teams to ensure safe, timely patient pathways and effective service delivery.

The ideal candidate will be organised, data‑driven and able to lead delegated improvement projects, manage performance information, and deputise for senior management when required.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree standard or equivalent level of experience.
• Experience in developing and implementing service changes.
• Able to demonstrate the use of software to create reports using SQL, BI and QlikView.

Responsibilities

• Monitor performance information, identify trends, risks, delays and bottlenecks and escalate as needed.
• Produce reports and analyses from multiple systems to inform decisions.
• Lead delegated improvement projects and monitor outcomes.
• Drive performance improvements to quality, productivity and efficiency.
• Provide guidance on the Trust Access Policy and patient pathway queries.
• Work closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to resolve pathway issues and improve processes.
• Support the development and maintenance of reporting and information processes with a focus on data quality.
• Take day to day line management responsibility for an assigned team, supporting recruitment and development.
• Deputise for senior management when required.
