Job summary

Outward is seeking a proactive Deputy Manager in North East London to join a dedicated team supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and complex support needs. This 12-month maternity cover combines direct care with service coordination, team leadership and ensuring person-centred service delivery.

You will work with the Team Manager to run services, supervise staff, manage rotas, and uphold safeguarding and GDPR standards while aligning with Outward’s values of

Qualifications

• Experience delivering person-centred care to adults with learning disabilities or complex needs.
• Experience coordinating a staff team and providing guidance to staff development.
• Strong safeguarding and risk management understanding in care settings.
• Knowledge of health and safety within supported housing or care environments.
• Ability to develop and review person-centred support plans and risk assessments; maintain records.
• Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR, and data protection principles.
• Clear verbal and written communication; collaborative work with families and professionals.
• Strong organisational skills; prioritising workloads and coordinating rotas; using digital records.
• Commitment to Outward’s values and flexibility across services including weekends.
• Staff need a smartphone for secure system access; Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, person-centred support promoting independence and dignity.
• Coordinate day-to-day service delivery, rotas and handovers with the Team Manager.
• Develop and review support plans and risk assessments; maintain accurate records.
• Lead in service quality and improvement; gather feedback and follow up actions.
• Supervise staff; provide guidance and identify development needs.
• Support day-to-day management, induction and team communication; escalate concerns.
• Deliver safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection across services.
• Work flexibly across multiple services, including evenings and weekends.
