Job summary

A deputy manager role at Amazing Grace Nursery requires leadership to support the Nursery Manager and maintain high standards of care and education for children under 5. The deputy covers day-to-day operations in the manager's absence, ensuring safeguarding and nursery policies are followed.

The candidate should have Level 3 childcare or higher, EYFS knowledge, and prior supervisory experience, with excellent communication and DBS clearance.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 childcare qualification is required.
  • Strong EYFS knowledge and safeguarding understanding.
  • Experience in a nursery with under-5 children.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • DBS check or willingness to undergo one.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver EYFS-based activities.
  • Support development of children aged 0–5 years.
  • Maintain accurate progress records.
  • Build positive relationships with children and parents.
  • Ensure safety and safeguarding compliance.
  • Work as part of a team to provide high-quality care and education.

Job description

Deputy Manager

Maximum 40 hours

The role of the Deputy Manager is to assist the Nursery Manager to provide professional leadership and management of the nursery and to help ensure that all children receive the highest standards of care and education.

In the absence of the Nursery Manager, the Deputy will undertake the overall day- to- day management of the nursery.

Your Qualifications and Experience
  • Ideally have previous experience as a 3rd in Charge or Room Coordinator
  • At least 3 years occupational experience working and caring for children under 5 within a nursery environment
  • At least 1 years current experience in a supervisory role
  • Have previous experience of working with children
  • Have a good understanding of all safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • You will hold a full and relevant qualification in Early Years at Level 3 or above, Early childhood studies degree and EYP/EYT or other degree related childcare qualifications are desirable.
  • Have excellent knowledge of the new (Sep 26) EYFS
  • Promote high standards of quality within the nursery in respect of the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
  • Ensure that all children attending the nursery receive rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
  • Ensure that practice and provision in the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand and, when necessary, follow Safeguarding Procedures.
  • Promote and facilitate partnerships with parents/ carers and other family members.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to provide a high standard of care and education.
  • Adhere to all safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare (e.g. CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent).
  • Sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Previous experience in an early years setting.
  • Passionate about providing outstanding care and education for young children.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach.
  • A DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
