We are seeking a passionate and motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership and management of our Children's Residential Home. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a nurturing, therapeutic, and supportive environment where children and young people can feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance while leading and inspiring a dedicated team. As Deputy Manager, you will: Assist in the effective day-to-day management of the home. Lead, motivate, and support residential care staff to deliver exceptional care and support. Promote positive outcomes for children and young people through high-quality care planning and practice. Ensure the home operates in line with Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding procedures. Develop positive relationships with children, families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals. Support recruitment, induction, supervision, and development of staff. Monitor practice, records, and performance to ensure regulatory compliance. Participate in the on-call rota and deputise for the Registered Manager when required. Champion a culture of continuous improvement and child-centred care. You will be a caring, resilient, and effective leader who is passionate about improving the lives of children and young people.
Experience working within a children's residential care setting. Previous supervisory or leadership experience. A strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed practice. The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people. Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. The confidence to make decisions and lead a team during challenging situations. A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Essential Requirements Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Working towards, or willing to undertake, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare. Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs. Knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards. Full UK driving licence (desirable/essential as appropriate).
