Job summary

Choice Care is seeking a Deputy Manager for Compton House near Winchester. You will support the Home Manager in running a 11-bedroom residential home for people with learning disabilities and complex needs, with 24-hour staffing and a focus on person-centred care.

Role requires supervisory experience in Adult Social Care, excellent organisation, and knowledge of codes of practice and legislation. 40-hour week with comprehensive staff development and benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Identify residents' emotional, physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs and decide actions with management.
  • Coordinate and lead staffing under the Home Manager.
  • Conduct inductions and supervisions to support the Home Manager.
  • Lead regular team meetings and delegate responsibilities.
  • Assist in staffing planning and rota management to maintain levels.
  • Assist with investigations, disciplinaries and grievances as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments and Choice Care homes.
  • Conduct risk assessments for staff and residents.

Overview of the role

You will be assisting the Home Manager in the operation of a residential care home. Your duties will include development, implementation and monitoring of individual care plans;assisting with staff supervision and administrative control; and ensuring compliance with all relevant codes of practice and legislation.

The position requires extensive knowledge, including supervisory experience from working in Adult Social Care. You will need to have a professional approach with the ability to organise and prioritise, and a good knowledge of relevant codes of practice and legislation.

Key duties
  • Identifying residents' emotional, physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs and make appropriate decisions for action in consultation with the management team
  • Coordinatingand leading the staffing team, under the direction of the Home Manager
  • Supporting the Home Manager by effectively conducting inductions and supervisions
  • Conducting regular team meetings and delegatingresponsibilities amongst the team
  • Supporting the Home Manager in maintaining appropriate levels of staffing by planning and managing a rota
  • Supporting the Home Manager in managing the impact of absence
  • Ensuring staff are up to date with training
  • Actively assisting and supporting the Home Manager with investigations, disciplinaries andgrievances
  • Working in collaboration with other departments and homes within the Company
  • Conducting risk assessments for both staff and residents

Where will you work?

Compton House, near Winchester, is an eleven-bedroom residential home for residents of varied ages with learning disabilities and complex needs, including those who are non-verbal. Residents are supported with 24-hour staff and our own in-house Positive Behaviour Support Team. Like other Choice Care homes, Compton House offers structured activity programmes to support personal development, including 'LD Club', 'Sensory for All' and cycling, designed to maximise independence and enable everyone to achieve individual goals at their own pace. The home has its own transport for local travel to the shops and leisure centre, as well as for trips further afield.
