Job summary

Portman Recruitment is seeking a Deputy Manager for a four-bed children's residential home in Gedney, Spalding. This permanent, full-time role reports to the Registered Manager and sits on the leadership team to shape service development.

You will lead shifts, manage rotas, oversee safeguarding and budgeting, and help deliver a therapeutic, child-centred care approach within a supportive regional network.

Qualifications

• At least two years' experience in a children's residential home.
• Experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker or Deputy Manager.
• Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Children and Young People's Workforce or Residential Childcare.
• Good knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children's Homes Regulations.
• Experience managing staff rotas and contributing to budgets.

Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager with day-to-day running of the home
• Lead shifts and provide guidance to the residential staff team
• Manage staff rotas and help maintain safe staffing levels
• Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals and performance discussions
• Maintain safeguarding and child-centred care standards
• Ensure compliance with Ofsted and Children's Homes Regulations
• Support care planning, risk assessments and behaviour-support strategies
• Assist with budgets and administrative responsibilities
• Collaborate with social workers, families and professionals
• Promote a therapeutic, nurturing environment
• Deputise for the Registered Manager when required
• Contribute to service development.

Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Home

Location: Gedney, Spalding
Salary: £33,360, rising to £35,577 depending on experience and qualifications, plus additional sleep-in payments
Hours: 39 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Service: Four-bed EBD children's home
Driving requirement: Full UK driving licence

The opportunity

An established national children's residential care provider is looking for an experienced Deputy Manager or Senior Residential Support Worker who is ready to progress.

The successful candidate will join a four-bed home supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will work alongside a knowledgeable and experienced Registered Manager and become an important member of the home's leadership team.

The home forms part of a supportive regional network of children's services. You will be encouraged to contribute ideas, use your experience and help shape the continued development of the home.

The organisation follows a therapeutic and child-centred model of care, with a strong focus on thoughtful communication, reducing restrictive practices and achieving positive outcomes for young people.

Career development

You will receive support to complete your Level 5 qualification and develop the knowledge and confidence needed to progress into a future Registered Manager position.

You will also be given opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and manage the home in the Registered Manager's absence.

Key responsibilities

• Deputise for the Registered Manager when required
• Contribute to the continued development and improvement of the service

Requirements

• At least two years' experience working within a children's residential home
• Current or previous experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker or Deputy Manager
• Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Children and Young People's Workforce or Residential Childcare
• Good knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures and the Children's Homes Regulations
• Experience managing staff rotas and contributing to budgets
