Job summary

SGS-Care-Ltd is seeking a Deputy Manager for a Childrens Home in Rugeley. The role offers a detailed leadership path, overseeing shifts including evenings and sleep-ins, with a focus on compliance and safeguarding to ensure high standards of care.

You will work alongside the Home Manager, supervise staff, and contribute to financial planning and quality assurance while maintaining a safe, supportive environment for looked-after children.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Workforce is required.
• Full UK manual driving licence is required.
• At least 1 year as a Senior Residential Care Worker in a childrens home.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team through supervision, appraisal and development.
• Manage the home in the Registered Managers absence.
• Maintain a safe and homely environment and oversee health & safety, risk assessments and training compliance.
• Liaise with professionals to contribute to care planning.
• Build trusting relationships with staff and young people with genuine care and compassion.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Salary: Estimated £31,680 per annum (£16.50 × 160 hours × 12 months) + Sleeps

Hourly Rate: £16.50 per hour, plus an excellent overtime rate

Working Hours / Shift Pattern: Shifts including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins and bank holidays

Employment Type: Full-time

Qualifications Required: Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce. Full UK manual driving licence.

Experience Required: At least 1 year as a Senior Residential Care Worker in a children's home

You will work alongside the Home Manager across compliance, safeguarding, quality assurance and financial planning, lead the team through supervision, appraisal and development, manage the home in the Registered Manager's absence, maintain a safe and homely environment, oversee health and safety, risk assessments and training compliance, and liaise with professionals to contribute to care planning. You will build trusting relationships with both staff and young people, with genuine care and compassion at the heart of your practice.
