Job summary

SGS-Care-Ltd is seeking a Deputy Children’s Manager in Shrewsbury to lead a dedicated team in delivering therapeutic care for children with complex needs. You will deputise for the Registered Manager and oversee supervision, safeguarding, and shift planning to support positive outcomes.

The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of child development and trauma-informed practice, a full UK driving licence, and flexibility including weekends and sleep-ins.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is required.
• Willingness to complete Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification.

Responsibilities

• Deputise for the Registered Manager and oversee staff supervision and development.
• Plan shifts and resources and ensure delivery of individual care and therapeutic plans.
• Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed and maintain compliance.

Job Title: Deputy Children's Manager

Location: Shrewsbury, England

Salary: £41,036.49 – £41,651.39 per year

Working Hours / Shift Pattern: Full time, 2:4 shift pattern

Employment Type: Permanent

Sleep-ins: Required (part of the 2:4 pattern)

Experience Required: At least 1 year in a supervisory/management role in residential care, plus 2 years' experience working in residential childcare

You'll bring strong leadership skills, a commitment to best practice, and a genuine desire to help young people thrive. You'll deputise for the Registered Manager, oversee staff supervision and development, ensure compliance with safeguarding protocols, plan shifts and resources, and support the delivery of individual care and therapeutic plans — all while working directly with children to promote positive relationships and outcomes.

You’ll need excellent understanding of child development and trauma-informed practice, confidence with Microsoft Office, a full UK driving licence, and the resilience to work flexibly, including weekends and sleep-ins.
