Job summary

BaxterStorey is seeking a Deputy Manager to support the General Manager at London Metropolitan University's catering operation. The role covers two retail cafés, hospitality and vending services, with one cafe offering hot food.

We’re looking for a motivated and hands on

Deputy Manager to support the General Manager with the day-to‑day running of our catering operation at London Metropolitan University.

The role covers two retail cafés, hospitality and vending services, with one café providing a hot food offer. You’ll help manage daily operations, support the team, maintain excellent customer service and ensure high standards of health & safety and food safety compliance.

You’ll also take responsibility for the site when the General Manager is off‑site, making this an ideal opportunity for an experienced hospitality supervisor or assistant manager looking to take the next step in their career.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about food, hospitality and customer service
• Confident leading and motivating a team
• Organised and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment
• Knowledgeable about food safety and health & safety
• Hands‑on and happy to get involved wherever needed
• Ready to step up and take ownership of the operation when required

Job Description

Qualifications

• Experience ina similar operation
• Currently a Deputy General Manager looking for progression or a General Manager interested in something more challenging.
• Have a contagiouspassion for food and customer service
• You draw satisfaction from managing, training, and supporting a team
• Financially astute, you are very analytical and know how to create and maintain budgets and drive commercial performance
• Excellent delegation and influencing skills
• Ability to prioritise multiple projects in a fast‑paced, multi‑faced, creative environment and able to work well under pressure
• Meticulous organisational abilities; high attention to detail
• Concise and effective verbal and written communication
• Ability to adapt to challenges and opportunities with a solution‑oriented perspective
• Excellent strategic thinking and critical reasoning skills
