Job summary

Sgscare is recruiting a Deputy Manager for a brand-new Children’s Home in Whitchurch. The role involves leading shifts and supporting the Registered Manager within a dynamic residential setting for 11–17 year olds.

You will help shape culture, routines and high care standards from day one. You will supervise and mentor staff, ensure safeguarding and care planning compliance, and contribute to daily operational management and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is required.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare is desirable or willingness to work towards it.
• Experience in an Ofsted Registered Children’s Home leading shifts and supervising staff is required.

Responsibilities

Salary & Package

• Hourly Rate: £17.50–£18.00 per hour (depending on experience)

• Sleep-ins: £65.00 per sleep

• Working Pattern: Shift-based role with dedicated administrative time

Qualifications Required: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it, is desirable.

Experience Required: Previous experience working within an Ofsted Registered Children’s Home supporting children and young people, with experience leading shifts and supervising staff.

• Have previous experience within an Ofsted Registered Children’s Home.

• Support with the day‑to‑day management of the home, including dedicated administrative responsibilities.
• Be passionate about achieving outstanding outcomes for children and young people.

Our client is an independent children’s residential provider supporting young people aged 11–17, with a strong focus on helping children develop their social, emotional, independence and functional skills while building resilience and preparing for adulthood.
