Job summary

Esteem North Academy in Chesterfield is seeking an experienced leader to join as Deputy Leader (Education). This 32.5-hour post sits on MPS/UPS with SEN 1 and a TL R2a, and it offers scope to expand leadership across the academy.

You will lead staff, deliver CPD and ensure smooth site operations, with a strong focus on inclusion and high expectations. The role includes a shadowing period before the Hasland and future Birdholme sites fully open, and requires a car for travel between campuses,

Contract: 32.5 hours per week

We are looking to recruit an experienced and inspiring leader to join our academy to assist in leading one of the Chesterfield sites with secondary aged children. The staffing teams are small compared to mainstream schools and the post will suit an experienced professional who would like to expand on their leadership remit as this is a role that will provide variation and job satisfaction.

Candidates must be willing to be flexible to meet the needs of the pupils and the academy and be passionate about inclusion. This role is to work under the Assistant Headteacher who leads this site and together ensure the quality of education, welcome new pupils to the school and manage behaviour. You will lead staff, deliver CPD and ensure school routines are adhered to with consistency.

We welcome applications from candidates who are able to identify high quality teaching, work in a fast paced environment and uphold and drive our positive academy ethos.

Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting. An affinity for pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding opportunity. Applicants should be resilient, have high expectations, and a sense of humour. You must be able to build positive relationships with our pupils and think outside of the box.

You will be responsible for contributing to a small staffing team to ensure that the site runs smoothly. A growth mindset and positive ethos are essential characteristics that we are looking for.

There will be another role also available during 2027. This initial role will be based at the Hasland site. Our additional school site will be opening in Chesterfield during 2027. This post will allow the successful candidate a shadowing period to learn their craft prior to the additional site opening. One candidate will remain at the Hasland site and the other successful candidate will move to be based at the new school site in Birdholme.

An allocated base will be named for payment of mileage and any relevant travel for the academy. Candidates must have access to a car with business use included on their insurance. You may be expected to transport pupils in your own car.
