Job summary

Holly Hill Church School in Birmingham seeks an excellent Deputy Headteacher to lead teaching and learning, support staff and model inspirational leadership across the school community.

You will focus on professional development, coaching and safeguarding as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, while helping to develop our distinctive Methodist‑Anglican Christian character and deputising for the Headteacher when required.

Qualifications

• An excellent and reflective primary practitioner with successful leadership experience.
• Knowledgeable about EYFS and KS1 foundations in communication, language, phonics and reading.
• An encouraging and supportive leader who can inspire, coach and appropriately challenge others.
• Ambitious for all children, including those with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and children who may experience barriers to learning.
• Able to build positive relationships with children, colleagues, families, governors and our wider community.
• Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and high professional standards.
• Willing to actively support and develop Holly Hill’s Christian vision and distinctive Methodist‑Anglican character.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning through our Holly Hill Pedagogy.
• Support teachers, teaching assistants and leaders to grow through coaching, modelling, feedback and professional development.
• Strengthen curriculum, assessment and subject leadership, including continued focus on phonics and early reading.
• Use evidence and pupil outcomes to identify priorities and evaluate impact of our work.
• Work closely with our SENDCo/Inclusion Lead to ensure high expectations and inclusive practice for every child.
• Champion our trauma-informed and relational approach, helping children to feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
• Contribute to safeguarding as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Help lead and develop the distinctive Christian character of Holly Hill; deputise for the Headteacher when required.
