Job summary

Holly Hill Church School invites an outstanding Deputy Headteacher to join our warm, church-led community. You will work with the Headteacher to drive teaching and learning, coach staff, and strengthen curriculum and assessment with a strong emphasis on phonics and early reading.

The role also encompasses safeguarding responsibilities and contributing to our Christian character. The successful candidate will lead with ambition for all children, including those with SEND and barriers to learning,

Qualifications

• Excellent and reflective primary practitioner with leadership experience.
• Knowledgeable about EYFS and KS1 foundations in communication, language, phonics and reading.
• Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and high professional standards.
• Willing to support and develop the school’s Christian vision and Methodist-Anglican character.

Holly Hill Church School is looking for an excellent teacher and inspiring leader to join us as our new Deputy Headteacher.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the next stage of our school’s journey, with a particular focus on teaching and learning, professional development and coaching, alongside wider whole-school leadership and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibilities.

The role

Working closely with the Headteacher and wider leadership team, you will:

• lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning through our Holly Hill Pedagogy;
• support teachers, teaching assistants and leaders to grow through coaching, modelling, feedback and professional development;
• strengthen curriculum, assessment and subject leadership, including our continued focus on phonics and early reading;
• use evidence and pupil outcomes to help identify priorities and evaluate the impact of our work;
• work closely with our SENDCo/Inclusion Lead to ensure high expectations and inclusive practice for every child;
• champion our trauma-informed and relational approach, helping children to feel safe, valued and ready to learn;
• contribute to safeguarding as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead;
• help lead and develop the distinctive Christian character of Holly Hill; and support the day-to-day leadership of the school and deputise for the Headteacher when required.

Our Christian foundation is an important part of who we are. Applicants do not need to belong to a particular Christian denomination, but our Deputy Headteacher will need to actively support our Christian vision and Methodist-Anglican character and contribute positively to collective worship and spiritual development.
