Job description

Strategic Direction and Development of the School

1.1 Collaborate with the Headteacher to develop a strategic vision for the school within its community, analyzing and planning for future needs and development in local, national, and international contexts.

1.2 Demonstrate high standards of personal integrity, loyalty, discretion, and professionalism.

1.3 Support all decisions made by the Headteacher and Governing Body publicly.

Teaching and Learning

2.1 Lead by example as an excellent classroom practitioner, inspiring and motivating staff.

2.2 Work with the Senior Leadership Team and Headteacher to maintain high expectations and excellent teaching and learning standards across the school.

2.3 Monitor and evaluate teaching quality and student achievement, using benchmarks and setting targets for improvement.

2.4 Utilize formative and summative assessments effectively to inform strategies and decisions.

Leading and Managing Staff

3.1 Collaborate with the Headteacher to lead, motivate, support, challenge, coach, and develop staff to ensure continuous improvement, including your own professional development.

3.2 Support the Headteacher in the professional growth of staff, including ECT mentoring, assessments, and new staff inductions.

Efficient and Effective Deployment of Staff and Resources

4.1 In consultation with the Headteacher, deploy staff and resources efficiently to meet specific objectives aligned with the school’s plan and financial context, including cover supervision, deployment of HLTA’s, supply staff, and Teaching Assistants.

Accountability

5.1 Assist the Headteacher and Governors in demonstrating the school’s effectiveness and efficiency to all stakeholders.

Specific Duties

6.1 Lead teaching, learning, curriculum, and English across the school, ensuring an exceptional curriculum.

6.2 Take the lead on assessment across the school.

6.3 Deputize for the Headteacher in their absence.

6.4 Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

6.5 Play a major role in the day-to-day running of the school.

6.6 Contribute to fostering a positive ethos for learning.

6.7 Teach Year 6 morning sessions.

6.8 Support and oversee an inclusive, exciting, stimulating, and creative curriculum.

6.9 Promote the school’s values and achievements within the community.

6.10 Advise on resource needs and coordinate resource allocation.

6.11 Maintain ambitious expectations for all pupils, including those with SEND, disabilities, and pupils eligible for pupil premium.

6.12 Assist with staff recruitment, induction, and support for ECTs and students.

6.13 Support and promote the school’s behavior policy.

6.14 Assist in budget planning and monitoring with the Headteacher and Governors.

6.15 Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the School Improvement Plan.

6.16 Perform any other activities reasonably required by the Headteacher and Governors.
