Job summary

The Active Learning Trust is seeking a Deputy Headteacher for Hillside Primary School in Ipswich to lead school improvement and professional growth across staff. You will work closely with the Headteacher to drive standards, develop colleagues and maintain high expectations to ensure every child thrives.

The role combines strategic responsibilities with strong classroom leadership, using pupil data to raise attainment and ensure high-quality teaching and learning.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading school improvement and driving high standards.
• Strong understanding of classroom practice and teaching standards.
• Ability to use pupil achievement data to evaluate progress and raise standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the Headteacher in leading school improvement, strategic planning and development of the academy.
• Lead, motivate and line manage staff to foster high performance and professional growth.
• Monitor and improve the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across the school.
• Use pupil achievement data to evaluate progress and support effective intervention.
• Undertake DSL or Deputy DSL responsibilities as required and assume leadership in the Headteacher's absence.
