Usk Church in Wales Primary School is seeking an outstanding Deputy Headteacher to join our successful, caring and ambitious school from January 2027. Qualifications

  • Welsh language assessment is desirable and beneficial.

Job description

The Governing Body of Usk Church in Wales Primary School is seeking to appoint an outstanding, positive and inspirational Deputy Headteacher to join our successful, caring and ambitious school from January 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly effective leader to work in close partnership with the Headteacher, staff, governors, parents and the wider community to continue to build on the school's many strengths and shape the next stage of its development.

The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a proven track record of leadership and school improvement. They will share our commitment to ensuring that every child flourishes academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually within our inclusive Church in Wales school community.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Deputy Headteacher will make a significant contribution to the strategic leadership of the school, supporting the development of a clear vision for excellence in teaching and learning, pupil wellbeing, Christian distinctiveness and continuous school improvement. The successful candidate will be required to undertake the professional responsibilities of a Deputy Headteacher as specified in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document and deputise for the Headteacher as required.

  • Has successful leadership experience and a proven ability to improve outcomes for children.
  • Has a strong understanding of Curriculum for Wales and effective pedagogy.
  • Is committed to inclusion and ensuring all learners, including those with Additional Learning Needs, achieve their full potential.
  • Can inspire, motivate and develop staff through collaborative leadership.
  • Will actively promote and support the Christian vision, values and distinctiveness of our Church in Wales school.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can build strong partnerships with pupils, staff, families, governors, the church and the wider community.
  • Is committed to their own professional learning and the development of others.

The Deputy Headteacher job description is based upon the Professional Standards for Teaching and Leadership in Wales and reflects the expectations of leadership within a Church in Wales school. Christian values and ethos are an integral part of all aspects of school life and the successful candidate will be expected to actively contribute to and support the school's distinctive Christian character.

SALARY - IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Salary would be pro rata if not working full time hours or 52 weeks per year.

i.e. 37 hours per week / 32.5 per week for School Teachers

Location: Usk Church In Wales Primary School, NP15 1SE, United Kingdom. This may change in the future if the service location needs to relocate. Relocation or disturbance expenses will not be paid if this happens.
